We had a fantastic display of tennis in the finals of the 2023 senior club champs on the weekend.
Congrats to all the players for their skill and efforts under pressure, and their great sportmanship (sportspersonship?!)

Congrats, too, to Emma Whiterod for her clean sweep in all three women’s finals: singles, doubles and mixed doubles!!

Results

• Mixed doubles: Callan Nikora and Emma Whiterod bt Nizar Veerankutty and Hannah Grimmett 6-4, 6-2 to take out the Whiterod Whānau Trophy
• Women’s singles: Emma Whiterod bt Hannah Grimmett 6-3, 6-4
• Men’s singles: Nizar Veerankutty bt Callan Nikora 6-3, 7-5
• Women’s doubles: Emma Whiterod and Monique Moore won by default (through injury) over Leonie Campbell and Jodie Lawson
• Men’s doubles: Callan Nikora and Pātaka Moore won by default (through illness) over Nizar Veerankutty and Archie O’Sullivan

Amiria Whiterod, Emma Whiterod, Callan Nikora and Manawanui Rikihana with the Whiterod Whānau Trophy for mixed doubles. The Whiterods presented the trophy to the club this year, and its inaugural winners were Emma and Callan.

The Whiterod Whānau Trophy for Mixed Doubles winners were Emma Whiterod and Callan Nikora.
